So, what's the deal with this site? Is it a journal? Is it a blog?

If forced to choose, I'd prefer to think of it as a blog. It's not much of a journal, I rarely get personal. Mainly, it's a place for links and thoughts. In fact, ideally, I think of it as a personal web site with a blogging component.

What's the main focus here? Don't you have an identifiable theme? What? It seems like you talk about a lot of things.

I just like to write about things I find interesting. Probably half of my entries are reviews of some kinds of media: books, film, television shows, and music. I really enjoy all of those things, and I like to use wakingslow to chart the different movies I see and books I read. Perhaps it helps visitors find books to read and movies to see. If not, that's okay, because often it's about my getting things off my chest ("why did that movie suck?" "that book had an amazing ending"). It's also personally useful for me to remember what I read when, and what I thought of it.

You haven't updated in 4 days! What the hell?

It meant I didn't have anything to say! Count your blessings! When I have content, I post it. If I'm not posting, that means you're being spare "I'm so bored" and "Not much going on here" posts.

What's the deal with your "links"? Can you link to me?

My philosophy on the links list is this: what's linked is what I read daily. It will grow, and evolve, and there will be sites that disappear and new ones will appear, and that just means I've changed my daily rounds. If you want me to link to you, let me know your site so I can check it out and we'll go from there! I don't like the quid pro quo linkage that goes on in the "blogosphere" or "blogiverse." I just don't care that much.

Your site is so bland! Why all the black and grey?

I like black and grey. *shrug*

What's with the name?

It's a reference to my favorite poem "The Waking," by Theodore Roethke. Also, while the poem is far more complex than simply this, I can't deny the fact that I'm not at my best first thing in the morning.
